Meet Our Team

Eduardo Goncalves
Eduardo Goncalves is one of Britain’s leading animal campaigners. As CEO of the League Against Cruel Sports he led a major undercover investigation into the brutal world of organised dogfighting, which led to the government increasing jail terms for animal cruelty to 5 years. He was awarded a special ‘Animal Hero’ prize by the Daily Mirror for his work exposing the horrors of trophy hunting for which The Times wrote in an editorial: “Mr. Gonçalves has done the world a service”. He founded the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting with Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who dedicated his book ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ to him. Eduardo led the daring undercover operation to save a young tiger cub called Sally, who was scheduled to be shot by a trophy hunter in an enclosure. He has persuaded all of Britain’s major parties to support a ban on trophy hunting. Eduardo has been a consultant for WWF and the RSPB too. A living kidney donor, he also helped set up Kidney Kids, a support network for children and families affected by kidney disease. Watch video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C3bDdaQT74

Scooby
Scooby is our inspiration! He was kept on a chain outdoors for 12 long, hard years. He nearly starved to death, suffered appalling mange, and was frequently beaten by drunken neighbours with a stick. He spent several weeks at the sanctuary where he was helped by Dr Dave and friends, and has now been happily rehomed… where he insists on half an hour of belly rubs every morning from his new family 😊

Peter Egan
Peter Egan is the star of stage, film and TV shows such as Downton Abbey and Ever Decreasing Circles. He is also arguably Britain’s leading animal advocate, a committed vegan, and Patron of several animal charities. He has adopted a number of rescue dogs over the years, and in a recent interview with K9 Magazine said: “Dogs are a vital part of my life”.

Dr. Dave - Head of Therapy
Dave is an extraordinary dog. Calm and gentle, he has helped countless abused and traumatised dogs overcome their experiences and transformed them into contented, confident animals ready for rehoming.

Marc Abraham
Dr Marc Abraham OBE, or ‘Marc the Vet’ as he’s popularly-known, is a multi-award-winning veterinary surgeon, author, broadcaster, and animal welfare campaigner. He is the founder of puppy farm awareness campaign ‘Pup Aid’, and led the successful ‘Lucy’s Law’ campaign to ban commercial puppy farming. He co-founded the All-Party Parliamentary Dog Advisory Welfare Group (APDAWG), appears regularly in the media, and visits local schools to chat with pupils about caring for animals and looking out for each other. He is the subject of a major new documentary, ‘Dogspiracy’, which follows Marc as he goes undercover in the US to investigate America’s vast puppy breeding and smuggling industry. He has been awarded the OBE for services to animal welfare.

Haley O'Keefe
Hayley O'Keeffe is a journalist with over 2 decades of experience in the industry. She has worked for a number of national newspapers as well as serving as Editor for a prestigious local title. In 2019, she founded the Animal News Agency which is today the UK’s leading provider of animal-related news stories to the British press. She is a key member of the International Animal Welfare Protection Coalition, which – among other things – is campaigning to stop the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of dogs in Morocco ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
